NTPC Plans 125 MW IGCC PP in UP

NTPC is planning to set up a 125 MW integrated gasification combined cycle ( IGCC ) Power plant in UP in association with BHEL. The project is to be set up near NTPC’s Auraiya gas-fired power plant in Uttar Pradesh. BHEL will erect and commission the project while NTPC will operate the same. The IGCC technology converts coal into gas, which is fed into gas turbines for generating electricity. As of November 2006, BHEL has submitted a feasibility report and is awaiting approvals. The project is estimated to cost Rs.9,000 million.

IOC awards major turnkey contract to Punj Lloyd

IOC has awarded the EPC contracts for the upcoming Haldia refinery expansion programme to Punj Lloyd. The details of the contract include, setting up the 1.7 mmtpa Hydrocracker unit at a cost of Rs. 8,640 million and setting up a 70,000 tpa hydrogen generation unit at a cost of Rs.2,990 millon.

Hooghly Met Coke’s Captive Power Plant Project

Hooghly Met Coke & Power , joint venture between Tata Steel and WBIDC is planning to set up a 120 MW Captive power plant at its upcoming coke oven plant in West Bengal.

Hindalco’s JV with ALMEX USA

Hindalco has firmed up its plans to form a joint venture with US based ALMEX to manufacture High Strength Aluminium Alloys for applications in the aerospace, sporting goods and surface transport industries. A new company in the style of HINDALCO-ALMEX Aerospace Ltd, has been floated in which Hindalco will hold 70% equity and the remaining equity will be held by the US company.
